With the recent spell of really hot weather the TUC is warning employers that they could actually be breaking the law if they don't protect workers from the effects of extreme heat. Despite no clear legal maximum workplace temperature in the UK, health & safety regulations place a duty on employers to ensure inside temperature is "reasonable" during working hours. The TUC is warning that if employers fail to keep workplaces cool they could then be liable if a member or staff has an accident or gets ill at work as a result of the heat.
